Lignovations Wins Futurezone Award – Named best Green Project

Lignovations has been selected as a finalist for the prestigious ALLE Award 2024 sponsored by the leading cosmetic industry trade magazine Cosmetics & Toiletries. 

In the 2023 Futurezone Award ceremony, Lignovations has emerged victorious as the best Green Project for its groundbreaking functional materials from lignin. The Austrian company specializes in harnessing the potential of Lignin, a plant component found in wood waste, to create sustainable alternatives for various products, including cosmetics.

Lignin, known for protecting plants from UV radiation, oxidative stress, and microbial threats, is sourced from the 50 million tons of wood waste generated annually in the EU. Utilizing a patented technology developed at the TU Wien, Lignovations transforms Lignin into „colloidal Lignin particles.“ This innovation allows the incorporation of Lignin’s protective properties into consumer goods.

LignoGuard, their inaugural product, serves as a SPF booster, antioxidant, and stabilizer in cosmetic products such as sunscreens. The development of LignoGuard addresses the growing concern surrounding the use of harmful chemicals, including UV filters, in everyday products like sunscreens.
