LignoGuard® boosts the performance of synthetic and mineral UV filters enabling an increase in SPF and a reduction of UV filters (in-vivo). Mineral formulations additionally benefit from elimination of the white cast.
ANTIOXIDANT
Due to its natural phenolic structure, LignoGuard® helps to protect cells and oils from damage caused by free radicals (in-vitro).
EMULSION STABILIZER
The unique physical properties of LignoGuard® allow its colloidal particles to align at the interface of the oil and water phase, making emulsions more stable (‘Pickering Effect’).

LignoGuard® is of 100% natural origin according to ISO16128. The lignin is sourced from modern biorefineries that primarily use upcycled biomass originating from European wood processing residues.
100% Sustainable
The lignin often is only used for energy production by being burnt. At Lignovations, the lignin is reused and upcycled to add value to a variety of products.
0% Harmful Chemicals
Lignovations' process works without using any harmful chemicals or modifications and is Cosmetic-GMP certified. Consequently, LignoGuard® is COSMOS and NaTrue approved as well as labeled as 'excellent' by Dermatest for its compatibility with sensitive skin.
HOW IT WORKS
TECHNOLOGY
Lignin consists of heterogenous particles, which cause strong agglomeration and instable emulsions. Lignovations developed a patented technology with which this material is turned into homogenous colloidal particles with no agglomeration, improving emulsion stability.
